Garry Edwards, CEO

Garry Edwards is the Founder and Managing Director of the AAM Investment Group. He has over 20 years’ experience in investments and management within the Australian agribusiness sector.

 

As an equity investor, he has developed assets and opportunities in livestock production, livestock marketing, value added marketing and processing, and consistently delivered superior financial returns.

 

Garry studied a Bachelor of Applied Science, Systems Agriculture at the University of Western Sydney, Hawkesbury where he graduated as dux of his course and also received a scholarship to attend the University of Illinois in the United States.

 

In his early career, Garry created the Livestock Exchange technology platform and developed the technology and systems that today underpin Australia’s multi-billion dollar livestock industry through the National Livestock Identification System (NLIS).

 

Today, Australia is the envy of all other livestock export markets due to the value attributed to commodities that fall under the NLIS program due to their enhanced market access.

 

Garry has extensive experience in a diverse range of agricultural businesses from family operations through to large scale integrated corporate agricultural operations across a range of industry sectors.

 

In 2007, Garry founded AAMIG commencing the development, operation and management of a portfolio of agricultural assets on behalf of Australian Superannuation funds which today trade over $1 billion of livestock annually.

Tim Gallagher, GM Investments

As head of the investment team, Tim has overall responsibility for identifying assets on behalf of investors.

 

Tim has extensive experience in the management and development of livestock and farming operations, having held a number of key executive positions with the Australian Agricultural Company (AACo).

 

As AACo’s General Manager of Station Operations, Tim was responsible for the management and strategic direction of the company’s northern breeding and growing stations covering a geographic area of 8.2m hectares in Queensland and the Northern Territory; the management of a staff of 350; and a herd of 500,000 head of cattle.

 

Prior to that time, Tim was responsible for developing AACo supply chains for Live Export, Domestic and Branded Feedlot and Wagyu markets.

 

Tim has extensive experience in cattle trading across northern Australia and marketing into the live export, store and feeder markets.

 

Tim has also been responsible for the oversight of large diversified irrigated and dryland cropping aggregations in central and southern Queensland producing cotton and cereal crops.

 

From 2011 Tim was Managing Director of CRF Limited – one of Australia’s largest Lamb processors based at Colac, Victoria. CRF provided processing and further services (through to retail ready) to a range of clients.

Steven Goakes, GM Corporate Services

Managed investments has been a career-long focus for Steven, who has structured managed investments for commercial property, securities, agribusiness and developments.

 

A relentless focus on stakeholder value is a hallmark of Steven’s management approach.

 

At AAM Investment Group, Steven leads a diverse corporate services division, focused on supporting high performance across the group.

 

Steven’s areas of responsibility include investment structuring, compliance and corporate governance, human resource management, IT strategy, communications, marketing, legal services and publications.

Andrew McCarron, GM Construction & Compliance

Andrew is responsible for the construction and capital works across the broad AAM Investment Group portfolio of assets.

 

He leads a team of professional project staff, together with select outsourced design assets. Together, this team provides turn-key solutions to the development and expansion needs of the entire portfolio.

 

Long experience in operating and managing livestock supply chain facilities places Andrew at the vanguard of design for new, innovative agribusiness facilities.

 

Innovative solutions to traditional challenges ensures that our modern facilities provide outstanding outcomes, not only in terms of economics, but also in animal welfare, safety and environment.

Ben Wratten, GM Operations

As General Manager – Operations, Ben oversees all operational aspects of AAM Investment Group’s asset management portfolio.

 

Previously, as General Manager of Andrew Forrest’s Minderoo Group, a vertically integrated beef business, Ben brings a wealth of relevant operational experience to this role.

 

Ben’s national portfolio responsibilities include efficient and effective operation of all sites for all stakeholders.
